08 OCT 2019: Well this is interesting news, especially for us travel media types. Northstar Travel Group which owns popular US travel trade publications Travel Weekly and TravelAge West has acquired travAlliancemedia the parent company of Travel Pulse Canada.

Northstar also acquired Buying Business Travel, a B2B brand in the UK, whose portfolio includes The Business Travel Awards, The BBT Business Travel Forums, BBT Editor’s Lunches, and Buying Business Travel magazine.

Travel Pulse Canada began publishing in the early spring of 2017, and has certainly become a force in the Canadian market ,opening branches in Quebec and Mexico in addition to its Toronto office.

John Kirk, president and CEO of Travel Pulse Canada, who will continue to oversee the Canadian and Mexican businesses, said, “Our core focus has been, and will continue to be, delivering relevant Canadian travel news and event coverage to travel advisor across Canada, in French and English.

“We have a fantastic editorial team with Marsha Mowers, Jim Byers, Sohelia Hakimi, Catherine Maisonneuve, Alexandra Roy, and a host of talented freelancers who will continue to deliver great Canadian content to our readership. If adding elements of the Northstar Travel Group product line to our line-up of products here in Canada makes sense to our advertisers and readership, then we will do what is best for them. Having the support and infrastructure in place to support any new initiatives will make it relatively simple to deploy a Canadianized version in very short order.”

Competition can only be good for all our readers by offering them differing viewpoints and keeping them informed and up to date, so, congratulations and best wishes to the Travel Pulse Team.
