EASYJET NAMES LUNDGREN NEW CEO

13 NOV 2017: EasyJet has a new CEO and his is a familiar face to the Canadian travel and tourism industry. Johan Lundgren will replace Carolyn McCall as chief executive of the airline.

 


EMMA MADSEN BACK AT JTB

O2 NOV 2017: Philip Rose, the Jamaica Tourist Board’s regional director in Canada, has announced the appointment of Emma Madsen as business development manager in Western Canada. Effective immediately Madsen will be responsible for developing the JTB’s sales initiatives in Western Canada.


RICHARD PRUITT TO CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE

31 OCT 2017: Cruise industry professional, Richard Pruitt, has been named vice president, environmental operations at Miami-based Carnival Cruise Line effective November 20. Pruitt will be focused on further strengthening and expanding the company’s shipboard and shoreside environmental programmes and practices.

20 OCT 2017: AmaWaterways has announced the appointment of Donna Cook to the newly created position of Director, Strategic Initiatives.  Reporting to Chief Marketing Officer, Jerre Fuqua, Cook will be working on a variety of new programmes to evaluate and improve the performance of strategic marketing and sales initiatives.

13 OCT 2017: TravelBrands has announced that vice president Nathalie Tanious will now be overlooking TravelBrands specialty brands, including Exotic Tours and Boomerang Tours. Tanious currently manages TravelBrands’ FIT, Sunquest and cruise division. and has made tremendous strides for our company. She is working closely with the specialty brands team to ensure a smooth transition and continued success.


Annick Guérard appointed Transat’s Chief Operating Officer

11 OCT 2017: Transat A.T. Inc. has announced the appointment of Annick Guérard as the company’s chief operating officer, effective November 1. In her new role, Guérard will head all of Transat’s travel operations, including the Air Transat business unit.

11 OCT 2017: Effective immediately, Air Canada Vacations has appointed Federico Berardinucci as manager, National Sales, at the Mississauga office. Berardinucci is no stranger to the travel industry, with over 15 years of experience in the car rental, travel insurance and airline business.


FRANCIS RILEY LEAVES NORWEGIAN

02 OCT 2017: Francis Riley has left Norwegian Cruise Line following a restructuring. Riley, who was senior vice-president international, was based in Miami. On Thursday NCL denied there would be any job losses involved in a restructuring of its UK operation, but Friday confirmed that Riley, a UK national, was no longer with the company.


ETIHAD APPOINTS GROUP CEO
Tony Douglas assumes role in New Year

29 SEP 2017: The chairman of Etihad Aviation Group, Mohamed Mubarak Fadhel Al Mazrouei, confirmed the appointment of Tony Douglas as Group CEO, who will join the company in January 2018. Douglas joins Etihad from the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence, where he has served as CEO, responsible for procuring and supporting all the equipment and services for the British Armed Forces.

South Western Ontario and Atlantic Canada

22 SEP 2017: Contiki has announced the appointment of Ian Kivell as its new Sales Manager for South Western Ontario and the Atlantic Canada regions effective immediately. Contiki is committed to increasing millennial sales for its travel agent partners, and as a result, has added an additional sales manager to its growing Eastern Canada portfolio.

Disney exec named president and CEO of Crystal Cruises

18 SEP 2017: Tom Wolber has been appointed president and CEO of Crystal Cruises replacing Edie Rodriquez, who is embarking on a 'new endeavour' after four years with the cruise line. Parent company Genting Hong Kong, which acquired Crystal Cruises in 2015, described Wolber as a 'travel industry veteran' with over three decades of experience.

Gavin Landry as executive vice president for the Americas

29 AUG 2017: VisitBritain has announced the appointment of Gavin Landry as its executive vice president for the Americas. Effective immediately, Landry’s remit is to drive new and repeat visitor growth to Britain from the Americas, focusing on key segments and top performing regions including Brazil, Canada and the US, as well as cities with new routes to build connectivity.

 


EXPEDIA CEO GETS JOB OFFER FROM UBER

29 AUG 2017: Expedia is confirming that CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has been offered the top job at ride-hailing company Uber. Barry Diller, board chairman of the travel booking site, said in a note to employees Monday that he believes Khosrowshahi intends to take the new post, but Diller says nothing has been finalized.

 


MARY GRIMLEY TO VP SALES AT VISIT DALLAS

20 JUL 2017: VisitDallas recently announced the promotion of Mary Grimley to vice president of Sales. Grimley has been a member of the sales team at VisitDallas for 14 years. The promotion comes on the heels of VisitDallas’ latest campaign, Dallas Delivers, aimed at meeting and event planners.

27 JUN 2017: America's railroad is turning to an airline industry veteran to lead it through a summer of reckoning for congested tracks and crumbling infrastructure. Amtrak on Monday named former Delta Air Lines chairman Richard Anderson as its new president and CEO.

ANOTHER SENIOR EXEC LEAVES ALLEGIANT

29 MAY 2017: Allegiant Air's parent says its chief operating officer has resigned, the second high-ranking executive to leave the discount carrier this month. Allegiant Travel Co. said Friday that Jude Bricker is leaving, but the airline gave no further explanation.


ROSSEN DIMITROV BACK AT WESTJET

11 MAY 2017: WestJet has announced that Rossen Dimitrov will return as Chief Guest Experience Officer effective May 15. Rossen was WestJet's Director of Inflight Services from 2011 to 2013.

 


ETIHAD AIRWAYS NAMES GAMMELL INTERIM CEO

09 MAY 2017: The parent company of Etihad Airways has tapped one of its own executives to take over for the outgoing CEO who oversaw the Gulf carrier's aggressive expansion and acquisition spree. The Etihad Aviation Group board of directors on Monday named Irish national Ray Gammell as interim chief executive, promoting him from his current post as chief people and performance officer. He joined Abu Dhabi-based Etihad in 2009.
