11 JAN 2018: Lufthansa announced that its Vancouver, BC route will receive the airline’s new flagship, long-haul aircraft, the Airbus A350-900, during the summer 2018 season.

Beginning May 1, Lufthansa’s A350 will be operated on the daily flights from Vancouver (YVR) to Munich (MUC). The route will actively use the A350-900 until the conclusion of the summer season, on October 27, 2018.
“Placing our A350 flagship aircraft on the Vancouver route during the busy summer travel season shows how greatly we value and are committed to this market,” said Tamur Goudarzi Pour, Lufthansa Group vice president airline sales for The Americas.

“Now, not only will our Vancouver passengers fly with Europe’s only 5-Star airline, but they will also encounter a significantly enhanced travel experience with many state-of-the-art features and an elevated level of comfort on board the A350-900.”
Onboard Experience
The A350-900 uses 25 percent less kerosene, produces 25 percent fewer emissions and is significantly quieter on take-off.

The aircraft has space for 293 passengers with 48 seats in Business Class, 21 in Premium Economy and 224 in Economy Class. At just under 18.4 feet wide, the cabin of the new Airbus is more spacious than comparable models of aircraft.
